bio
Since my teenage years I have had a camera in my hand, from the High School yearbook to my days in the Navy. I can't remember a time that I didn't look at light and the way it affected my surroundings. I have been truly blessed with a passion for creating images that my customers cherish for generations.
My children Ian and Kennedy are my inspiration as well as being live models, sometimes reluctantly so. They truly are the light of my life. I am very thankful to my talented and patient staff, they keep everything moving as it should. We work as a family and we treat our customers as a part of our portait family. I feel that each day is a blessing from God and I cherish each day to it's fullest!
Hi, my name is Donna Johnson. I have worked for Ken Sykes Photography Since 2003 as the Office Manager, which really means I have to keep Ken inline, this is the hardest part of my job! HaHaHa! However I do enjoy the creative parts of my job such as creating sets for photo shoots. I also make sure our customers receive their cherished portraits on time and are up to the quality we have become known for.
My greatest joy is seeing our customers children grow, although when they are here I think of them as mine, for the time I get to spend with them. My other interests include painting, spending time with my beautiful daughter Montanna, as well as the rest of my family whom I cherish.
Hi, I'm Rebeka. I graduated from Appalachian State University with a degree in Graphic Arts and Imaging Technology with a minor in Art. I enjoy working here at Ken Sykes Photography very much! My favorite part of the job is designing albums. It's fun to tell the story of a wedding through pictures. It is also neat to see how families grow as they come in for a new photo shoot. I am happy to help you with any questions or concerns either here at the studio, on the phone, or through email. I think our customers enjoy our professional yet relaxed atmosphere!

One of the most important decisions in planning your wedding is choosing the photographer and I knew the minute we were in Ken's studio that he was the one that I wanted. Our wedding day just flew by, but when Ken sent me the proofs, each moment of our special day was captured in beautiful detail.

beach tripsFor 2010 the Annual Beach Sessions will be from Sat. July 3rd to Friday July 9th at Ocean Isle Beach, NC.
We have just 1 session per day at 7:30pm, reserving the morning for rainouts. The cost to reserve the session is $300 ($250 credited toward your portrait order). Fun is the word for this event. Nothing compares to the timeless beauty of a family session at the beach.
For 2010 our Annual Creekside sessions will be April 10th and 11th. Our first outdoor event of the year and longest running event. This will be our 10th year. Get out your old jeans, white t-shirts and lets meet at the creek!
in the leaves For 2010 our Portraits in the Leaves sessions will be Oct 17th -Nov 17th . We are now booking appointments for this very popular event. The leaves are only in color for this short window.
We have made special arrangements for two special weekends ( Oct 30,31st and Nov 6,7th) , this should be the peak of foliage color. These sessions will be at High Point City Lake Park. We have reduced the session fee to $30 (save $60). Plus, if you are one of the first to book your session you will receive a free 8x10(value of $59). Our standard minimum print order applies (assuming you like the portraits) is $150. If you have a special location in mind we are available for this by appointment on dates other than the weekends mentioned above and you will benefit from the same special prices.
Tips for a successful professional portrait session: for clothing, we recommend solid colors. Colors that will compliment the colors found in nature at this time of year ( brown, black, dark green, burgandy, dark tan, gold and navy blues). Dark color shoes (no bright colored sneakers please).
These portraits make great Christmas gifts for yourself and Family. So call right away before our calender fills up and the leaves are gone.
We call August- "Awesome August", its the last full month of summer. Its the peak in the outdoor season. We get more requests for "on location" shots then any other time. Therefore we have reduced the on location fee to $30 (save $60). So call us to schedule a special session at your choice of location or I can help you come up with a location or theme.
spring againFor 2010 our Spring Again sessions will be at Bicentennial Garden in Greensboro. The dates are May 1st and 2nd. The flowers are absolutely breathtaking at the Garden. Don't miss out. These sessions go fast. The first 10 appointments made will receive a free 8x10.
